Sometimes Kindness Comes From Within

So, you may have noticed that the Kindred Kindness Week came to an unexpected pause.

The truth is, I over-extended myself.

I had to have a minor medical procedure on Wednesday and I underestimated how much I would need space to recover—not just physically, but emotionally. It didn’t help that said procedure didn’t go exactly as planned. Thankfully, all is well now.

But all this happening reminded me of something important.

Sometimes Kindness Comes From Within

Yes, I absolutely want to highlight important causes and uplift other creatives. But I can’t do any of that if I’m not stable myself. Making sure my foundation is solid, by being kind to myself, is just as important.

And that’s what I did. I rested. I spent time with the people I love. I privately journaled my feelings.

Now, I feel better and more focused.

So yes, sometimes the world throws a curveball at you, and you have to tackle it with kindness.

If our own foundation cracks, the community we’re building will too.

But now I’m feeling more active and focused, I want to revisit Kindred Kindness Week.

I want to hear who you feel needs some kindness right now. It could be a friend in need, a small business that needs a boost, or even yourself.

Do something kind today — for yourself or someone else. And, if you’re up for it, leave a comment highlighting a business or person that could use some love, so others can visit them and show their support.

Over the next few months, Kindred will move into a quieter season while I focus on my writing and reflect on the future direction of the community.

Kindred isn’t disappearing—it’s recalibrating.

I’ll be back in June for our second annual Creating With Pride event, so if you’re an LGBTQA+ creative or know of one, please get in touch, so I can showcase you and your work in June.

Until then,

Thank you for being part of this space as it grows and evolves.

Be kind—to yourself and others.

With love and creativity,

Clare
