Submit your letter
Your words could be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
If you could send a letter back to your younger self, what would you say?
Would you offer reassurance? Share something you've learned? Tell them they're stronger than they realise? Or simply remind them that everything will be okay?
Dear Past Me is a growing collection of letters written by people from all walks of life, each offering the kindness, hope, or understanding they wish they'd received when they needed it most.
Your story doesn't have to be extraordinary.
Sometimes the words that change someone's life are the simplest ones.
Whether your letter is joyful, heartbreaking, hopeful, or quietly reflective, we'd be honoured to read it.
Before You Submit
Please take a moment to read these guidelines before sending your letter.
- Your letter should be written to your younger self.
- You're welcome to write anonymously or use your first name.
- Please only share experiences you're comfortable making public.
- Minor spelling, grammar, or formatting edits may be made before publication, but your voice and meaning will always be respected.
- By submitting your letter, you confirm that it is your own work and that you give permission for it to be published on Dear Past Me.
- We reserve the right not to publish submissions that don't align with the spirit of the project.
A Gentle Note
Many of the letters shared here touch on difficult experiences, including grief, mental health, trauma, illness, or discrimination.
While these conversations are welcome, Dear Past Me isn't a crisis support service or a replacement for professional help.
Please take care of yourself as you write, and only share what feels right for you.
Ready?
We can't wait to read your letter.
Thank you for trusting Dear Past Me with your story.
